기존에 독서의 경우 단순히 책의 그림을 보거나 글을 읽는 단순한 일이기 때문에 집중력이나 흥미를 끄는 데 한계가 있었다. 그래서 본 논문은 AR과 AI의 기술을 융합한 새로운 방식의 독서가 가능한 애플리케이션을 개발하였다. 일반 종이책에 개발한 애플리케이션을 실행하였을 때 주요한 이미지의 경우 3D 이미지로 변하게 되고 해당 이미지에 대한 설명이 다양한 언어로 읽어준다. 또한, 의문점이 있으면 애플리케이션 내에 채팅 기능을 추가하여 바로 해답을 얻을 수 있도록 하였다. 본 연구는 단순한 책을 읽는 방법에서 Unity 플랫폼을 활용한 AR과 AI의 융합 도서 디자인 애플리케이션을 소개한다. 본 논문은 중국어, 한국어 및 영어로 읽기와 채팅 기능이 가능하지만 다양한 언어를 추가할 수 있다. 특히, 읽기 기능의 경우 성우가 녹음하는 형식이 아닌 AI가 읽어주는 방식을 선택하였기 때문에 다양한 언어를 추가하더라도 비용을 크게 절약할 수 있다. 또한, Unity로 개발하기 때문에 한 번 개발된 애플리케이션은 다른 책의 3D 이미지만 개발해도 기존 애플리케이션을 그대로 활용할 수 있으므로 최초 개발할 때 개발 비용을 제외하고 차후 유지비용이 크게 비용이 들지 않는 장점도 있다. 현재 독서 인구의 감소로 출판업계의 경기가 불황인 상황에서 IT 기술을 접목한 인터렉션 디자인 방법은 기존 종이책을 출판하는 것보다 더 많은 이익을 창출할 수 있을 것이라 기대된다.

Previously, reading was a simple matter of simply looking at pictures or reading text in a book, so there were limits to concentration and interest. Therefore, this paper developed an application that enables a new way of reading that combines AR and AI technologies. When running an application developed on a regular paper book, key images are converted into 3D images and descriptions of the images are read in various languages. Additionally, if you have any questions, we added a chat function within the application so you can get answers right away. This study introduces a book design application that combines AR and AI using the Unity platform in a simple book reading method. This paper is available for reading and chatting in Chinese, Korean, and English, but other languages can be added. In particular, in the case of the reading function, AI reads the text rather than being recorded by a voice actor, so even if various languages are added, costs can be greatly reduced. In addition, because it is developed in Unity, once an application is developed, it can be used as an existing application even if only 3D images of other books are developed, so there is an advantage that there are no significant future maintenance costs except for the development cost at the time of initial development. In a situation where the publishing industry is currently in a recession due to the decline in the reading population, interaction design methods incorporating IT technology are expected to generate more profits than publishing existing paper books.
